From puppy hood a dog uses body language, position of body, tail and ears, together with facial expression and eye contact to communicate. Barking, howling, growls and whines are his vocal expressions, but less important. Body language is something that dogs are very aware of, more so than voice. A puppy will soon learn to respond to a hand signal, thus, body language can be used to communicate with your dog. Dogs are extremely curious about life, this is part of what makes them a joy to have as companions. A puppy will be curious, want to see what is what, clearly without supervision such curiosity could lead to unpleasant experiences. Thus it is important for basic training to be established as soon as possible, show your puppy who is boss and for the puppy to respect your commands. Remember dogs want to please their owners, they will be more motivated into learning with rewards and praise.
